My photo series is titled “Grasping For Creativity”. This is what photography has been to me. The class has been a want for creativity and multiple reshoots to test how far creativity can go.
This semester has taught me the divide between creativity and the need to work. My classes divided my attention between arbitrary class assignments and my creative work. I wanted to portray that feeling within this project as a means of being torn apart from something you don’t want to let go of. In the series, you will see a line of photos that feature a flower and a hand. Each scenario shows the desperation of trying to keep that flower near me which represents creativity. The blood is only a further indicator of the pain it takes to keep both worlds alive and functioning. The settings each act as somewhat of a horror film as this was meant to reflect how miserable the feeling can be. Overall, the photos resemble the mindset that I’ve been struggling with throughout college and I feel that with this being my final exam I was finally able to make the connection.
