My series explores the ways the human body can adhere to and blend in with its environment. I aimed to use both color and form to camouflage my subject within their backdrop, emphasizing that blending in goes beyond just matching tones. To express this idea, I incorporated dramatic posing and worked with a consistent subject, challenging myself to discover new visual strategies for creating a sense of camouflage.
This project was inspired by photographer Tyler Mitchell, whose portrait work is known for its striking use of vibrant colors and thoughtfully chosen props. His ability to communicate a story through visual elements deeply influenced my approach to creating this series.
Ultimately, I wanted to draw on everything I’ve learned about photography, along with my inspiration from Tyler Mitchell, to create a cohesive series of portraits that feel both visually powerful and conceptually original.
