Kenzie Zhu
I am an international student. Since childhood, I’ve lived in many different places— the United States, Macau, South Korea, mainland China.. My suitcase is always full. Traveling and flying have become routine for me. At times, I feel lonely, but I’m also grateful for these experiences, as they have shaped me into a global citizen.
I have a deep love for early 2000s Hong Kong cinema—it reminds me of the colors of home: vivid yet tinged with solitude. I especially like the dreamy shots in Wong Kar Wai's movies. Nowadays genz may not know much about HK movies, but their charm is incomparable.
Through this photo series, I hope to express my reflections on travel, displacement, and my evolving sense of identity. Traveling isn't always enjoyable for me - repetitive packing, traveling to and from the airport, and spending time commuting. My destination is always different. But in any case, I've grown in my ever-changing coordinates and explored my close connection to my hometown.
