I’ve been a movie fan my entire life. Whether it was going to the theaters or just sitting at home, I was addicted to the big screen. But when Covid hit, movies became something more to me- they became an integral part of my relationship with my family, as it seemed like every night we would sit down together and binge these films, old and new. Because of this, my bond with my family grew more and more, and today, that is a time I can look back on with gratitude to the very thing that brought us together. In this project, I place myself and some of my family members into the frame, putting ourselves in our favorite character’s shoes- the very characters we would talk about nonstop. Each one of my photos represents a still from a movie that you would see on dvd in our family’s movie room. The photos include in order:

Rocky (1976)

Dr. No (1962)

Rear Window (1954)

The Hunger Games (2012)

Seven (1995)

The Breakfast Club (1985)

Forrest Gump (1994)

Thelma and Louise (1991)

The Exorcist (1973)

The Sound of Music (1965)

This project drew inspiration from Cindy Sherman’s untitled Film Still Series.
