This photo series represents ten emotions from my time at Pepperdine University. As I approach graduation, I’ve reflected on the experiences, both beautiful and difficult, that shaped my college journey. First, I was inspired by Heather Rasmussen "Bruised Fruit” because she talks about how she uses humans to show objects or other things.

I wanted to approach my final series in a similar way of showing different parts of my life at Pepperdine. Each image captures a specific feeling or phase, turning personal memories into visual metaphors. I chose to use a black and white filter to put more focus on the hand, emphasizing the feelings attached with them. One photo shows a smiling face, symbolizing the joy of meeting new people and forming lasting friendships.

Another represents the excitement of discovery and growth. But not every emotion was light, some photos explore deeper, more complex moments. For example, I captured the image of thorns to represent pain, obstacles, and times when I felt trapped or overwhelmed. Another photo evokes a sense of drowning, symbolizing stress, anxiety, and moments of emotional exhaustion.

Yet, through it all, a recurring theme is resilience, the idea of fighting and moving forward. My journey was never easy, but every high and low played a role in shaping who I am today. These ten images are not only reflections of my experiences, but they also speak to common feelings that many students face during college. This project serves as a personal tribute  to my time at Pepperdine.
