While I’ve always been drawn to photography, it wasn’t until I got invited onto my first film shoot that I felt a compulsive desire to capture an image.  I was fascinated by the compositions before me in real life: the relationships between the film students and their film equipment and the relationships between the film students with each other.  After doing behind the scenes photography for three separate film shoots, I finally invested in a DSLR camera of my own so I could have more control over how I captured these images.

I wanted my final project to be a call back to my original inspiration for picking up a camera in the first place. So at my sister’s bridal shower party I sought to capture the authentic relationships between the people there to celebrate her and to convey the continuity of family throughout multiple generations.  In my first photo, I captured family portraits on the wall inside the house where the bridal shower takes place.  In the foreground is a wedding portrait of my sister’s soon to be grandmother in law.  This photo is meant to foreshadow my sister's future wedding alongside photos of her celebrating this wedding to come.
