My past work focuses more on photographs of humans. However, with this final project, I plan to challenge myself further by basing it on landscape. For my final project, I was inspired by the analogue that we saw in class of comparing a thing/ a store of how it looked in the past and modern. Afterward, I decided to explore the intersection between two cities: Los Angeles and Shanghai, which are places where I attend school and will spend a long time in the future, and a place where I grew up and live.
The main theme that I focus on is the landscape, and also includes things around me. I think it is interesting seeing things that are somehow similar, but also different, throughout two different cultures. In the project, I have made the pictures that I took in LA in a warmer color, which fits the ideal picture of LA as a sunny city. In contrast, I made pictures from Shanghai in a cooler tone, which sort of shows the fast pace of the city.
