With this project, I have combined my interest and fascination with the Car world with street photography. I managed to document the car culture with carious different shots and experimented with subjects beyond that just cars but its people and how the car community brings people and forms its own community.
I believe that car photography is already very established within the world of photography however, I manage to push beyond the limit of not taking images of solely cars but instead I showcase the daily activities and the idea of friendship being formed within the car community.
One artist that inspired my project project is Tony kelly’s fine Art Prints project where his work primarily focused on the idea of lavishness and the idea of luxury and material, such as she has different subjects of designer perfumes being displayed as well as sports cars being shown with models . Similar to my project, Tony kelly manages to display both subjects of people and cars in his work while his work has a larger emphasis on the idea of materialism and wealth.
Another artist that inspired my project is Kyle Fletcher, he is known for taking images of cars from a side profile while its moving which is called a “ rolling shot” where a slow shutter speed is being used to document a vehicle’s movement at motion .
I have been taking images of cars at a young age and creating this project has been a chance to develop my photography skills and techniques such as by taking images of cars with a low shutter speed to create a very interesting and visual effect.
