Chloe Grant
My name is Chloe Grant and I am a photographer based in Los Angeles, California. In addition to photography, I create art in multiple mediums, including painting, songwriting, and filmmaking. This semester, my work focused on capturing beautifully intimate moments of life. I focused on pushing my boundaries content-wise, creating works that authentically reflect my unique perspective of the world. I love to visually express the aspects of life that are typically kept private, in a respectful and abstract manner. Concepts I have captured this year include love, lust, heartbreak, romance, and nature.
In this series, I aimed to capture pure, romantic love. I was inspired by the technical style of Ansel Adams’ nature photography, and the romantic content of Sarah Bahbah. I found it fitting to shoot one of my best friends and her girlfriend, in a natural setting. I asked them to simply “go play” in nature, conversing and interacting as if I was not even there, capturing the moments. I loved playing with the lighting in the mystic canyon setting, as I was influenced by fairytale and witchcraft aesthetics. I styled the two women in all white, long, flowing dresses to symbolize light and peace. Additionally, I made sure to include aspects of each element in nature, including water, fire, air, and earth, to enhance the natural and pure aspect of romance.
