Through my work, I feel compelled to use striking textures, motifs, and environments to convey a powerful sentiment that resonates deeply with viewers. As I transition away from nature-based pieces and into human-centered work, I feel inspired to tell stories that toy with the concepts of space and time. My work gravitates towards an abstract style, which aims to express a specific sentiment while also allowing for opportunities of interpretation.  One of my greatest inspirations is the photographer Nikki S. Lee. The way Nikki portrays identity and culture is so powerful and engaging. Her work ultimately inspired me to be featured in my own photography, which plays into this series.

My project “Venus Through Time,” inspired by Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, strives to portray this iconic character throughout time. The series stresses the ephemeral nature of worldly beauty, emphasizing the absence of the legendary figure at both the beginning and the end.
