Michaela Kasper
My name is Michaela Kasper. I’m 22 years old and a senior at Pepperdine University. I’ve always loved photography and capturing little moments either on my phone or my digital camera. It wasn’t until Fall semester 2021 at Pepperdine, where I truly got to emmerce myself in the Photogrpahy world. I was able to learn new skills and challenge myself with different techniques. I enjoy capturing different perspectives of subjects and being able to set up different interpretations within a single image for the viewers.
For this photo series I wanted to capture a theme of emotion. An artist that inspired and intrigued me was Melodie McDaniel. She captures beautiful still life and celebrity images. I love how she uses color and lighting in each of her photos. I wanted to try and use some of her tenchniques and put my own twist and artistic view on two emotions and tell a story through them.
This project, “The Chaos Within” represents how sometimes we either force a an emotion or just want to hide our emotion. My goal was to show that fight of emotions and that struggle from within that some of us face during certain times of our lives. Sometimes we feel forced to display happiness so that others don’t see the pain or sadness we’re facing deep within.
